Well, at least not according to some residents at Shelton’s three mobile, or manufactured, home parks. That’s right they’re not called trailer parks anymore.

At Woodland Park — off Bridgeport Avenue — Chester Galemba sits back in a comfortable chair in his living room.

In one corner is a working fireplace. The rooms are small and a little cluttered, which Galemba readily admits is one drawback to living in a mobile home, but he loves it here.

“I made two decisions when I retired,” Galemba, president of the Woodland Park Association, says. “One was that I would never wear a tie again,” he says motioning to the top of the sweatshirt he’s wearing. “I cut them all up.” The other decision was a little more life-changing. Galemba decided to sell the home he lived in for 20 years and downsize.

His mobile home cost him $125,000 five years ago. “That was a real deal and still is,” he said.
