New Players With New Vision Set For Jacksonville Rv Megashow
The new year has brought changes in the RV landscape on the First Coast:
A longtime family-owned RV company and major community supporter, Ocean Grove RV Superstore in St. Augustine, is now under the moniker of RV One a national RV company based out of Fort Lauderdale.
Also, a newcomer to the market, D& H RV Center, will be showcasing its truck trailers for the first time as a new member the local chapter of the Florida RV Trade Association.
The new and expanded RV dealerships will be showcasing their recreational vehicles at the 2020 Jacksonville RV MegaShow, opening Thursday for a four-day run at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. Theyll be joined by local dealers Creative RV and General RV Center, and Como RV of Inverness.
While these dealers will be taking part in the areas biggest RV show, hosted by the FRVTAs Northeast Florida Region 6, a notable absence will be Camping World. The company is undergoing a brand change as some locations, such as its St. Augustine dealership, have already been rebranded as Gander RV .
Between sales, service and parts, the acquisition made Campers Inn the largest RV company in the Jacksonville area, said John Benfield, who took the reins as general manager at Campers Inn in Jacksonville last October. Benfield, who worked with company at a North Carolina dealership before moving to Jacksonville, says the company now has 26 locations nationwide.
Hofert does note that truck campers arent always the best option.

Couple Says General Rv Sold Them A Lemon Company Says It’s Offered Help
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A Jacksonville couple has filed a lawsuit against an Orange Park RV dealership, claiming it sold them a lemon, but the dealership said the RV was sold as is, without a warranty.
Patsy and Leon Carrigg said they bought their used RV at General RV on Wells Road in Orange Park in 2016 and were planning on spending their retirement years traveling.
“Hes 79 Im 74. We dont know how many more good years we got,” Patsy said.
So far, the couple has only put around 600 miles on the RV because they said the problems with the recreational vehicle started soon after they bought it.
“Thats when we found out the seat wouldnt lock in position. And the toilet wouldnt hold water. The leveling system was giving problems right at the start,” Patsy said.
They said they have tried to work with the dealership with little success and feel that General RV is trying to let the 36-month warranty expire by doing a shoddy job of repairs. The couple went online and found a number of negative reviews, so they decided to hire a lawyer and just filed a lawsuit.

The lawsuit seeks damages of at least $75,000. The Carriggs said the initial cost of the RV was roughly $86,000, and they’ve paid more than $40,000 so far.
“Other people would basically say the same problem that were having, but I think a lot of people would walk away from it,” Leon said.
