Why Youll Love Bonito Hollow Rv Park & Campground

[Overview] Trailer Village RV Park: BEST RV PARK IN ROSWELL NM

Bonito Hollow RV Park & amp Campground is a great place for fishing in the summer. However, it transforms into a skiing paradise as soon as winter hits. If you find that you need more to do during your stay at Bonito Hollow RV Park & amp Campground, you can always check out the nearby nature trails.

Camp And Swim In Bottomless Lakes

We chose this campground for our visit to Roswell. Its located ~18 miles from the city and is nicely situated next to the Bottomless Lakes with pretty views of the surrounding red rock and access to swimming, hiking and biking. Sites are very large and flat with shelter, grill and selection of water/electric or full hook-up. By far the nicest ones, in my opinion, are the front pull-throughs which are both enormous and have small trees and lake views. Only dings are that the last 6-mile ride to the park is a bit bumpy and you cant take dogs in the swimming area. Overall however we really enjoyed the relaxing surroundings and would certainly stay again.

NOTE/ Our $4/night rate reflects what we paid for electric hook-ups using New Mexico Annual Camping Pass

Extra Info: Verizon smartphone worked on 1X . Aircard worked with external amp/antenna. Sites cost $14/night for water/electric and $18/night for full hook-up . Camping fees can be covered with New Mexico Annual Camping Permit. Approx. half of campground is reservation, other half is first-come-first-serve. On-site dump station.

Why Youll Love Mescalero Sand North Dune Ohv Area

There are no hookups at this campground, but you can stay there for up to 14 days without paying a dime. Plus, Mescalero Sand North Dune OHV Area is an off-roaders dream.

Lake Van Rv Park Camping Info

The Lake Van RV Park isnt actually an RV park. Its more of a city park with a few RV spots with full hookups.

There are 9 sites in total. All of them had at least 30 amp service but only a few had 50 amp.

Theres a sewer hookup and drinking water but no RV dump station. This means if you are there to dry camp you wont be able to dump and fill without getting an RV site.

There are dumpsters along the fence throughout the park to throw away trash in.

Related RV Product: The Camco Screen Door Cross Bar Handle makes it easy to close an RV screen door and protect it at the same time.

The most surprising thing about this small RV Park is how unorganized the sites were.

Yes, there were numbered power pedestals but the sewer locations seemed to be pretty random.

The people next to us had the sewer to the side, but the only way we could get into a site was to have the sewer connection directly behind our motorhome.

\If we had a large travel trailer we would not have been able to fit as easily.

Some of the campers there seemed to be taking up as much space as possible to make it look like there wasnt another RV spot even though there was.

If you get there at it doesnt seem like theres an open site there most likely is you just need to look for the numbered power pedestal and park in front of it.

Theres even a playground, a large group pavilion, grills, and the lake of course.

Roswell, New Mexico & Bottomless Lakes State Park, RV Living

The owners are nice & friendly. The park is OK for the desert . Although there are a lot of people living there, we did not hear pickups starting at 5 or 6 am, as we have in other parks. Be aware, though, that: They charge extra for paying with a credit card , and The water is horribly hard & leaves hard water stains on everything. The best idea is to fill up your fresh water tank before arrival. I believe they also charge extra for 50 amp service. When you call for rates, ask about everything that might be an extra charge.

Lake Van Rv Park Campsite Review

It was pretty obvious that pretty much all of the 5 campers that were already there were people living there.

I dont know if they were following the 30 day rule or not but most of them left for work early every morning and a school bus even stopped by and honked to pick up some kids who were living in one of the campers there.

It wasnt a huge bother to us but if you like to sleep in every morning just be ready for some early morning noise.

It was also pretty active in the evenings with everyone coming back and there were lots of cars driving around until later at night.

Theres also a train that goes by a few times a day and once at night.

Otherwise, its not the worst place weve ever camped but also not the best.

Because we had to squeeze in next to some residents we didnt get a picnic table or really very much space outside of our RV. But we were mostly there to escape a wind storm and recharge our batteries.

For parking to get full-hookups its a great little RV park. The price was right and the lake is nice to walk around.

Our phones got good service and data speeds, and the town isnt far away at all.

We would definitely camp there again.

Not A Good Place To Stay

Coming out of North Dakota on a 1300-mile trip south, we planned our trip well, with all intermediate stops. After leaving Dodge City Kansas, our next stop took us to Roswell, NM. We had discussed two different RV parks located there, and had agreed on going with Trailer Village RV Park over another.

When we called ahead, we were told that if we gave our credit card number, they could reserve us a lot. We did so, and unexpectedly, had a fuel-pump failure on our tow vehicle in the middle of nowhere Texas. We called as soon as we could get a signal to let Trailer Village know we might not arrive until midnight, or later. They told us, that if we can’t be there by 10pm, that they would see us the next day. We asked about our credit card hold. They said that we could pay for another day if we needed it.I did the fuel pump repair, and we just wrote it off, staying in Tucumcari that night. We arrived the next day.

We pulled in to Trailer Village around mid-day the next day, and explained we had mechanical problems, but that we needed that lot now. For the next 20-minutes, we get a run around about ‘we don’t know if we have a lot for you’. Funny, I thought I reserved that lot last night, until today? Oh, yeah, right – he says, and shuffles meanless papers as I look outside and see half their lots empty.
