What People Are Saying About On The Beach Rv Park
My family and I stayed here for four days this past weekend. The site is well-maintained and the groundskeeper put so much elbow work into area beautification. They have a fish cleaning station, showers and public restrooms that were regularly cleaned throughout our entire visit. The staff was very friendly, engaging in conversation with us whenever we passed by. Joshua, Google Review

Bird Watching On The Central Flyway
Padre Island is on the Central Flyway, a major migration route for birds traveling between North, Central and South America. Over 380 species of birds, over half the bird species of the U. S., may be on Padre Island each year. Because of this, many bird lovers come to Padre Island during migration season to watch birds.
The Island provides a range of habitats including beach, coastal prairie, dunes, grasslands, wetlands and ponds which supply the bird population with an abundance of food and protection. The location makes it an important and necessary stopping point for migrating birds who need to stop to rest and for resident birds who use the diverse habitat for nesting and breeding. There are 13 threatened and endangered species on Padre Island. Concerned volunteers and staff of the National Seashore are working to conserve habitat that will increase numbers of these threatened and endangered species.
We were pleased to be able to view several of these rare birds during our stay on Padre Island including the Wood Stork and the Reddish Egret.
If you visit or camp on Padre Island, be sure to bring your camera, bird field guide and your binoculars or spotting scope. There are so many birds that you’ll become a bird watching enthusiast even if you weren’t one before your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions And Answers
What are people saying about rv parks in North Padre Island, TX?
This is a review for rv parks in North Padre Island, TX:
“We stayed at Laguna Shore Village for about a week and a half. Our stay there was cut short due to other obligations back home. However, the time we were there, it was a very pleasant visit. They were very accommodating, friendly, and helpful during our stay. The park is nice and quiet, it is maintained, the hookups are close to the rig, the people there are very friendly, and it is right across from the bay which was nice for the dogs in this summer heat. You have access to the Laguna Reef restaurant which is less than 5 minutes away, the park is close to a gas station, and is also in close proximity to HEB, Walmart, and many restaurants. There is also an RV parts store 10 minutes away on the main road. Would definitely stay here again if we make it back to Corpus!”

Corpus Christie Trip Planning For Rvers
When youre planning RV travels, its VERY important to use the proper tools. We recommend using tools that route trips according to your unique RV size restrictions.
RV Trip Wizard is our go to tool because it only routes us where our RV will fit. There no fear of being surprised by low clearancesa common issue when traveling to places like Corpus Christie.
RV Trip Wizard also lets us enter our travel preferences, like: ideal miles a day, hook up requirements and daily budget. From these preferences it shows us only the spots were interested in seeing.
There are other RV routing options, like this stand-alone GPS navigation system. Its more expensive than RV Trip Wizard, but works well as a hardwired-permanent option.

Bird Island Basin Camping Windsurfing And Birdwatching
We discovered the Bird Island Basin Campground after we had already tried camping on South Beach and camping at the Malaquite Campground . Bird Island Basin campground is on the Laguna Madre, a shallow saltwater lagoon with a sandy bottom. Camping here is primitive, with no dump stations or showers, but it is by far the nicest place to camp if you want privacy and a beautiful view. This is also an ideal location for kayaking, windsurfing, birdwatching and fishing.
Camping at Bird Island Basin is $5 a day or $10 for an annual pass. There is a 50% discount for holders of the Golden Age, Golden Access or America the Beautiful Senior Pass. There are chemical toilets near the camping area, but, when you need to dump or get fresh water you will need to drive back to the dump and water filling station near the Visitor Center.

Rockport Oaks Rv Park
Price: $35/night
Why Youll Love It: This is an ownership park, meaning individuals buy the lots and can opt to stay at them or rent them out. The $35 nightly rate is an average price, but the monthly rate of $275 is a steal!
Rockport Oaks can accommodate RVs of all sizes. The sites have full hook ups, and owners can opt to add cabanas and covered parking to the sites.
Whats The Word: Doc on Camprgound Reviews says, This is a relatively new ownership park south of Rockport. Although most sites are occupied by owners, some unsold lots are available for rental. The developer, who is also the rental manager, prefers longer term rentals but short term stays are possible. The sites are large and the park is landscaped with dozens of mature live oak trees. No restrooms or showers, but there is a modest sized laundry facility. Free wifi is available but not all that reliable. Excellent cellular reception on all major carriers. If you are not looking for Rockports typical snowbird parks with lots of activities you might find this park a refreshing change.

Where To Park Your Rv On South Padre Island
Location, Location, Location! If you want to be on South Padre Island, there are only 3 places to camp/glamp: South Padre KOA or Cameron Countys Isla Blanca or Andy Bowie Parks. We chose the South Padre KOA for its LOCATION, close to everything but tucked away from the main traffic and hubbub. Isla Blanca is a huge RV park over 600 spots with few amenities other than the beach & jetty at the far south end of the island. Andy Bowie Park is a rather small asphalt parking lot about mid-island, across from the Convention Center over the dunes to the beach.
Were we happy with our choice? Yes. Tom & Stacie are amazing people. They go out of their way to make sure everyone is having fun and included even going as far as offering a weekly Free Hot Dog night and instructing FREE Zumba classes several times a week sometimes even in the pool! I never thought Id enjoy Zumba, but never say never we became regulars. And dont forget the usual Bingo Night, Texas Holdem Night, Games Night, Cards Night. Then there were the special events musical entertainment on the sunset deck, spuds night, Super Bowl Party, a group trip to Mexico, card making parties, on & on.
The amenities and activities were nonstop and appreciated. Its nice to come back from a full day exploring the island to relax with a dip in the heated pool or meeting new friends on the sunset deck, sipping a cold one while the sun sinks colorfully beyond the horizon.

Edwin King Atwood Park
If beach access is on your list for an RV park in South Padre Island, you wont have trouble finding a stay. Although the majority of the parks in South Texas offer beach access, not all of them fulfill campers needs. Edwin King Atwood Park will meet your needs and deserves a spot on your list.
This is a Boondocking location which means no hook-ups. You must be self-contained to stay here. Also, plan to drive on the beach it can work, but you can also easily get stuck. The hardest sand is closest to the tide-line. The tide comes in and out often so be sure to park behind the tide line!
If youve been to the South Texas RV sites, you must have experienced the hustle and bustle. Edwin King Atwood Park offers complete solitude from the day-to-night rush of the Southside adventurers.
Just a word of advice Edwin King Atwood Park is open to car traffic. The beach can get busy on the weekends when people come to visit. Some will spend the night in the back of their truck or van!
Visitors and campers find it appealing to bring their furry pet along with them to take long walks on the beach. Youll find ample restrooms and a convenient boardwalk that offers beach access. Choose a sun-covered picnic table at your favorite pavilion by the main entrance to the beach.

Camping At The Malaquite Campground
The Malaquite Campground is near the Malaquite Visitor’s Center and is designed or RVs and motor homes. There are also 6 tent sites here, although tent campers are also allowed to set up their tents on the beach. Sites are quite close together, but each one has a shade shelter or picnic table of its own. The row of campsites on the beach side face the Gulf of Mexico, though you need to walk to the beach entryway to get out on the beach. Like most National Park campgrounds, this one does not have either electric or water hookups. There are restrooms with flush toilets and cold water showers. There is a dump station and a fresh water filling station just outside of the campground where you can empty your waste tanks and get fresh water. Be sure to read rules about use of generators carefully as the Park Service has strict rules about generator hours. You won’t want to plan to use your microwave or electric appliances to make meals only to find out that you aren’t allowed to run your generator.
The beach in front of the campground is a great place to walk or to watch birds. Pelicans make frequent flights along the edge of the water and are fun to watch as they dive for fish.
Driving is not allowed on the beach in front of the campground, so it’s a pleasant place to walk or watch birds. The camping fee at Malaquite Campground is $8 a night. Holders of the Golden Age or American the Beautiful Senior pass will get a 50% discount.
